On the front page of The Natchez Democrat recently was an article about how tickled Larry L. “Butch” Brown is that it would only, I repeat, only cost $3 million to light up the Mississippi River bridge.

Isn’t that great?

On page three in the same edition of The Democrat there was an article titled, “Another tax possible.” The article states that lawmakers are scrounging for every dollar so they can avoid laying off employees or cutting services.

If the state is in such a bind, why in the world would we want to spend $3 million to hang lights on a bridge?

I guess we should be tickled it is not $6 million.
