VIDALIA — The Concordia Parish Sheriff Office is investigating a possible case of arson after an early morning fire destroyed one area business Monday.
CPSO crime scene investigator Frankie Carroll said a 911 call came in at 3:21 a.m. reporting that the Miss-Lou Pawn shop located on U.S. 84 near Vidalia was on fire.
After investigating the scene, Carroll indicated that there had been someone in the building prior to the fire.
Carroll said it appeared the intruder gained entry to the rear of the building by tearing of the metal sheet siding, going through a storage area used by building owner Randy Olsen and knocking a hole through an inner wall to get into the pawn shop.
Carroll said the building had been boarded up and the power had been cut off apparently due to the current flooding situation with the Mississippi River.
CPSO investigator Phillip Weber is working the case, and Carroll said the State Fire Marshal’s Office has also been called in to investigate the cause of the fire.
