Native named to Yale public service honor roll

NEW ORLEANS — Romericus Stewart, the Steps to Healthier New Orleans program director at the City of New Orleans Health Department, was recently inducted into the Yale Public Service Honor Role. Stewart is a native of Natchez.
Stewart was chosen by the Yale Alumni in Public Health Awards Committee to receive the distinction.
The YSPH Alumni Public Service Honor Roll was implemented in 2001 to recognize alumni whose careers exemplify public health’s basic mission and commitment to public service, leadership in the community and public health practice.
Stewart has been the program director for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention -funded Steps to a Healthier New Orleans Program. Steps offers resources to the community focusing on asthma, diabetes, obesity and tobacco prevention.
