Nathcez — A conversation time for individuals who are dealing with grief and loss is scheduled for 6 to 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Basilica in the lower level of the church, 105 South Union St.
The Rev. David O’Connor, pastor at St. Mary Basilica and Assumption churches said the need for the program became evident in the past year.
“We have had many deaths in our congregation during the past twelve months, and I am of the opinion that dealing with grief is very burdensome to family members,” O’Connor said. “My hope is that this conversation time will be beneficial for any person dealing with grief.”
The program on June 24 will be facilitated by Marc Taylor, counselor at the Catholic Charities agency in Natchez. There will be no admission, and the program is open to persons of every faith.
“The program will also address issues of loss in people’s lives. These include the struggles arising from job losses, disappointments regarding ones children, and divorce related anxieties,” O’Connor said. “It is my hope that participants will learn ways of dealing with these issues and will find support among the group.”
The program is designed as a one-time meeting, but if there is a need for additional meetings, consideration will be given to this. Pre-registration is not needed. The meeting will be held in St. Theresa Hall in the lower level of St. Mary Basilica.
