Local JA members travel to conference

FRANKLIN, Tenn. — The power of the crown was the message to members of Junior Auxiliary of Natchez at the 68th annual education conference held this month in Franklin, Tenn.

The five points of the crown represent Junior Auxiliaries focus on charity, youth, health, leadership and service.

Junior Auxiliary is a national non-profit organization that encourages members to render charitable services which are beneficial to the general public with particular emphases on children.

Junior Auxiliary of Natchez was chartered by a group of caring, enthusiastic women in 1951 and continues to grow and thrive throughout Natchez–Adams County. Volunteers work tirelessly throughout the year on a variety of projects that focus on local children and families in need of assistance.

Junior Auxiliary of Natchez is a part of the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries, a non-profit organization founded in 1941 with Headquarters in Greenville. NAJA has more than 14,000 active, associate and life members in 101 chapters in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee and Texas.

This year’s conference was packed with entertainment, education and networking with other chapters from across the Mid-South. Junior Auxiliary of Natchez enjoyed speakers such as Anita Renfroe-known for her “mom-isms;: Grace Gore, Miss Tennessee 2007; Lauren Nelson, Miss America 2007; LaDonna Gatlin, whose messages empower people to realize their potential through their words, their deeds and their actions. In addition, up and coming board members of the chapter were trained in their specific duties for the next year.

The NAJA slogan is “Care Today — Character Tomorrow” and when teamed with the current focus of the Association, Healthy Children—Healthy Futures, Junior Auxiliary Chapters all over the Mid-South are working more than ever before to increase awareness of children in need and the benefits of caring today to create character tomorrow.
