VIDALIA — Mayor Hyram Copeland said a small sand boil inside Hesco barriers surrounding both the Riverpark Medical Center and the Comfort Suites Hotel caused approximately four to five inches of flooding within the Hesco walls at those facilities.
Water did not reach the inside of either the building, and the problem area has been successfully treated. Copeland said.
The sand boil issue was curtailed with approximately 20 regular-sized sandbags at the medical complex, Copeland said.
He said the sand boil at the hotel was similarly treated and both are under control.
Pumps have been operating every few hours at the Vidalia Conference and Convention Center to remove seepage water.
