MHV members attend state convention

NATCHEZ — Adams County Mississippi Homemaker Volunteers and the county director recently attended the state council meeting at Mississippi State University.

Lee J. Braxton, Lillian Clark Edney, Josie McClorine, Penny Rachal, Bonita Reed, Mae G. Stanton and Ruby West represented the Catherine Williams MHV club and Annie Lyles and Birdie Wade attended from the Sibley MHV club. Both groups were accompanied by David Carter, director of the Adams County Extension Service.

The members were actively involved in all facets of the council. Bonita Reed, who serves the southwest area as senior director attended a special reception and was the devotion leader for one session.

Mae Stanton, a past state president had special tasks and Lillian Clark Edney, who is the county council presidnet, was a voting delegate.

There were workshops, skits, tours, luncheons and loads of exhibits to observe as well as a silent auction.

Some members had entered education reports to state chairs prior to the state meeting and they were the recipients of certificates and cash awards at the awards breakfast at which Reed presented a very spiritual devotion.

Receiving recognition were Edney, second place in health and nutrition; Stanton, third place in home environment; Catherine Williams HMV club, third place in outstanding club project; Wade, outstanding council secretary record book and Carter was recognized for outstanding support of MHV clubs.

Rachal, an extensionoffice associate and also a membe of Catherine Williams MHV attended her fist state council and provided the entertainment for the third general session.

Reed will continue her senior director position until 2010. Mae G. Stanton was elected as a member of the nominating committee until 2011 and Edney was moved from being a member of the scholarship committee to chairing the health and nutrition committee through 2011. All positions are until July of the designated years.

Reed will also be working closely with other representation on environment, famiy issues and credential committee as well as serving as chair of family issues and the MHV historian.
