Come one-stop shop with schools
Published 12:11 am Wednesday, July 8, 2009
Parents and community members will have an opportunity to attend a one- stop shop for all their school related needs.
A Day in the District will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the David Steckler Multipurpose Complex (former convention center behind Natchez High School). The district encourages parents to take advantage of this event for the 2009-2010 school year registration.
The concept of A Day in the District is to provide convenient and efficient service to parents.
Our one stop shop will allow parents to do the following: register all children grades K-12; complete a lunch application; and obtain information about bus transportation, dress codes, school supplies, parent centers, PTA, class schedules, attendance, extra-curricular activities, staffing, school activities and more. Parents must bring two proofs of residence such as a utility bill or driver’s license to complete the registration packet.
The 2009-2010 Free Lunch Application will be available during this event. Parents must complete a new form each year in order for students to receive free or reduced lunches. Applications are computer generated to speed the process of free lunch eligibility. This year they will be orange-colored. Parents need to complete one application per household with all children’s names at the top of the form.
Contact the Office of Child Nutrition for questions at 601-445-2816.
Come out and receive information about each school in the district and to determine which school your child(ren) will be attending for the 2009-2010 school year.
Once again parents, please remember to complete a lunch application.
If you have any questions about A Day in the District contact Marilyn Alexander-Turner, federal programs director at 601-445-2828.
Angelita Jones is the Parent Center liaison at Natchez High School.
