NATCHEZ — Connie Leon Jones, 89, went home to be with our Lord and Savior 17 days shy of his 90th birthday.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church in Natchez with the Rev. Mike Harrigill officiating and Eddie Freeman will deliver a special message.

Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Winnsboro, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Mr. Jones was born June 2, 1921, the son of Samuel and Lillie Jones. He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post No. 84 and VFW Post No. 3155.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Sarah McMichael Jones; his parents; one brother, Jimmy Lee Jones; one sister, Emma Lee Pilgreen; and one great-granddaughter, Alexis Paige Jones.

Survivors include one sister, Lozell Flowers of West Monroe; eight children, Barbara Petty, Connie Nieto and husband, Juan, Steve Jones, Charles Jones and wife, Linda, Catherine Estis and husband, Tommy, Joy Jones, Mike Jones and wife, Cathy, and Kimberly Jones; 12 grandchildren, John Petty, Gary Petty, Paul Morton, Sam Estis, Cryssy King, Joshua Estis, Jessica Justice, Gwen Morton, Jennifer Lingefelt, Janet Jones, Lacey Jones and Amanda Petty; 15 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Brad Olinde, John Petty, Paul Morton, Charles Jones, Logan Estis and Jimmy Dale Jones.

Honorary pallbearer will be Gary Petty.
