NATCHEZ — Cell phone alerts regarding COVID-19 testing on Thursday, July 9, at the National Guard Armory in Natchez are not true, emergency officials said.

Neifa Hardy, liaison officer of Adams County Emergency Management, said she had received an emergency alert on her cellphone that falsely stated there would be COVID-19 testing at the armory.

Hardy said she had also received calls from Adams County residents who said they received the same notification.

“Natchez-Adams County residents, if you have received a Public Safety Alert message which states ‘COVID-19 testing on July 9, 2020 at the National Guard Armory starting at 8am,’ this information is false,” Hardy said, adding Emergency Management Director Robert Bradford had called the National Guard Armory to verify that the information is false.

Those who received the alert on their devices should disregard it, Hardy said, adding it is unclear where the notification originated.
