NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Artie Rose Smith White, 88, of Natchez, who died on Saturday, July 4 2020, in Natchez will be held Friday, July 10, 2020, at 10 a.m. at the Natchez National Cemetery with Pastor Marcus McIntyre officiating.
Burial will follow at the cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2020, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Artie was born August 21, 1931, in Natchez, the daughter of Annie Davis Smith and Benjamin James Smith, Sr. and Annie Davis Smith. She was a 1950 graduate of Brumfield High School. Artie attend Southern University in Baton Rouge for two years and was a retired nursing assistant. Mrs. White was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church where she formerly served as secretary and treasurer and presently as a deaconess until her health failed. Her hobbies/interests include cooking, singing, traveling and caring for relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death her husband, Joseph Robert White; parents; four brothers; one sister; and son-in-law, Theodore “Bubber” West.
Artie leaves to cherish her memories four daughters, Esther Ruth Cuffie and husband Nigel, Joanne White, Renee White-West, Vickie Watters Martin and husband Cornelius; two adopted daughters, Elvie Guthrie Lewis and husband Felton, Gwendolyn Turner Parker and husband Carl; grandchildren, Donovan Cuffie, Stalon Cuffie, Estain Adams, Reginald West, Joseph West, Kirsten West Savali, Tammie West Jones and other relatives and friends.
