NATCHEZ — The Adams County Board of Supervisors on Monday voted unanimously to end a countywide curfew that had been in place since March 25 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

During Monday’s regularly scheduled meeting of the Adams County Board of Supervisors, Emergency Management Director Robert Bradford said the curfew expired Monday and recommended not to extend it because of “no imminent danger to the public.”

Bradford said statewide the total number of COVID-19 cases as risen to 19,799 with 895 COVID-19 related deaths.

Bradford said Adams County has had a total of 226 confirmed COVID-19 cases since early March and only 18 cases are still active and are being tracked.

Bradford said 15 of those active COVID-19 cases are among inmates in the Adams County Correctional Facility.

“They’ve isolated all COVID-19 patients and new prisoners coming in. They are maintaining their outbreak very well,” Bradford said. “… Now is not the time to get complacent but to continue doing what we are doing. … Our numbers look great and we need to continue to practice social distancing, regular hand washing and wearing masks.”

The board also voted unanimously to continue their adoption of Gov. Tate Reeves’ executive orders 1495 and 1496 to June 29. The orders place restrictions on business occupancy and include health and safety recommendations for businesses and public facilities.

Bradford said another testing site would be set up within the next two weeks and more masks would be distributed countywide on June 27. The time slots and locations of the masks distribution would be announced at a later date, Bradford said.
