NATCHEZ — In the race for the Ward 4 Natchez Alderman seat, incumbent Democrat Felecia Bridgewater-Irving held a 45-vote lead over challenger Michael Calcote at the end of the night.
However, 164 absentee ballots remain to be counted in Ward 4, so the race is far from settled.
Irving ended the night with 280 votes, or 47.22% of the vote, to Calcote’s 235 votes, or 39.63% of the vote.
Democratic challenger Frederick Todd garnered 74 votes, or 12.48% of the vote.
The winner of the Ward 4 race after the absentee votes are counted will face Republican challenger Brenda Floyd in the July 14 general election.
