NATCHEZ — Services for Vernon Ray Chaplin, 66, of Natchez, who died Friday, May 29, 2020, in Natchez will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2020, at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Brother Steve Purvis officiating. Services will be under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mr. Chaplin was born Dec. 29, 1953, in Natchez, MS the son of Odis Turnage, Sr. and Vera Rose Bolin Turnage.

Mr. Chaplin was preceded in death by his father Odis Turnage, Sr.; two brothers Odis Turnage, Jr. and Stephen Chaplin.

Survivors include his mother Vera Turnage; his wife Jeanie Chaplin; two sons Johnathan Hitt and wife Heather and Christopher Cain; one brother Dale Turnage; one sister Kathy Vercher and husband Bobby; five grandchildren C.J. Cain, Hannah Hitt, Alana Cain, Caleb Cain, and Jacob Hitt; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend Ray Skates.

Pallbearers will be Johnathan Hitt, Ray Skates, Conner Verucchi, Bobby Vercher, Chris McDaniels and Kenneth Wilson.
