NATCHEZ — Duncan Park Golf Course reopened Thursday under new guidelines due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Greg Brooking, Duncan Park golf course superintendent, said he has added several regulations for customers to abide by.

“To sign in, you have to have a mask on in the 15-foot area,” Brooking said. “We have an isolated area that has plexiglass between the person and the employee. In the area, only one person can be in the 15-foot area. We are working hard on social distancing, and we’re trying to work toward a 10-foot social distancing as oppose to 6-foot. When you go into the area to interact with an employee, you must have a mask on.”

The only area that is not opened to the public is the clubhouse. Brooking said the clubhouse will stay closed for quite sometime but will reopen.

Out on the golf course, Brooking said only one person is allowed to ride per golf cart, the driving range is marked off by 15-foot sections and the balls are wiped down and sprayed with Clorox after being used.

Brooking added that the flagsticks are to remain in the holes and the rakes for the bunkers have been removed.

Once a person finishes playing at Duncan Park Golf Course no loitering is allowed in the parking lot, Brooking said.

“Once a person finishes playing, then they should put up their golf clubs up, put the golf cart back into the cart return area and we ask people to leave and not to sit out in the parking lot and sit around with other golfers,” Brooking said. “Our main goal is safety of the public at Duncan Park right now.”

The cost to play is $29 for a cart and green fee and $24 for seniors over 65 years of age. The park is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8-6:30 p.m. Saturday and 8-6 p.m. on Sunday.

• No one inside the clubhouse.
