NATCHEZ — Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be in the Woodville area May 19 -20.

They will be handing out information to help start the registration process for FEMA aid, FEMA Public Information Officer Robin Smith said.

The representatives will be at the Sportsman’s Stop on Mississippi 24 at Lake Mary Road from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days.

Anybody who has been affected by the flood may attend, Smith said.

As of 3 p.m., the river stood at 61.29 feet, the highest-record water level ever at Natchez. Flood stage at Natchez is 48 feet. The predicted crest of the river is 63.0 feet on May 21.

In Natchez, Congressman Gregg Harper met with Natchez mayor Jake Middleton and other city officials to review the flood situation at Natchez Under-the-Hill and other areas.

In Vidalia, using a helicopter and inmate labor, officials battles a sand boil at the north end of the Vidalia Conference and Convention Center.
