VIDALIA — When Carrie Myers was an accountant at a dentist office, she became interested in oral hygiene and decided accounting was not the right career for her.
Myers studied accounting at Copiah-Lincoln Community College and later worked in a dental office selling health insurance to patients.
“I was interested in dentistry after seeing the dentists caring for their patients,” Myers said.
When The Dart landed at Vidalia Landing on Wednesday afternoon, Myers was walking outside with Samuel, her 14-year-old son, and their dog, Bullet.
After changing her career path, Myers said she went on to study dental hygiene and dental assistance at Pearl River Community College in Hattiesburg.
Myers is now a dental hygienist at Miss-Lou Family Dentistry in Ferriday.
Myers said she is excited to getting back to work on Monday after the COVID-19 pandemic had forced a temporary shutdown of the dental clinic.
“I love hygiene and cleaning teeth all day,” Myers said. “Hygiene is very important and helps prevent diseases that can start in your mouth. Also, it keeps you healthy.”
