NATCHEZ — Services for Evelyn Juliet Abbott Jamison, 95, who died Friday, May 13, 2011 at her residence in Natchez will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2011at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Stancil and Bro. Spruce Derden officiating.
Burial will follow at Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2011 and from noon, Monday, until services begin at Laird Funeral Home.
Evelyn Juliet Abbot Jamison was born on Feb. 14, 1916 in Woodville, the daughter of Ira M. and Juliet Ford Abbott. She was the last charter member of Riverside Baptist Church of Natchez. She worked at Bluebell garment factory and she loved to raise vegetables for her family, her church family and sold a many of them to friends of who would become regular customers of hers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George Jamison; three brothers, Ira M. Abbott Jr., Bernard Abbott and Ford Abbott; and three sons-in-laws, Steve Roberts, Sam Chavis and Bill Jones.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol McDaniel Chavis of Natchez, Patricia Roberts Swillie and husband James of Natchez, Shirley Chandler and husband Barney of Greensburg, La.; two grandsons Terrell Jones and wife Lisa of Natchez and Barney Carl Chandler II of Greensburg, La.; two granddaughters, Chasity Roberts Perea and husband Chris of Natchez and Jammie Swillie Little and husband Mike of Natchez; six great-grandchildren, Josh Jones and wife Brittney of Pensacola, Fla., Caden Jones, Chaisly Perea, Caydence Perea and Michael Perea, all of Natchez, and Hunter Chandler of Greensburg, La.; one step great-grandson, Drew Grey and wife Liz of North Carolina; two great-great grandchildren, Hunter Grey of North Carolina and baby Jones on the way; four sister-in-laws, Velma Jamison and Ruby Jamison of Natchez, Irene Jamison of Hazlehurst and Bonnie Abbott of Poplarville, and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are David Abbott, David Abbott Jr., Barney Carl Chandler II, Danny Ray Weeks, Josh Jones and Buster Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Perea and Mike Little.
