NATCHEZ — Natchez Mayor Darryl Grennell said Monday afternoon that he still has not received the results of a COVID-19 test his doctor sent to a private lab a week ago Monday.

At the time, Grennell said he was told the results would be available in four days.

In the meantime, Grennell is remaining self-quarantined because he also tested positive for the flu at the same doctor’s appointment last week and regardless of the COVID-19 results would have a weakened immune system due to the flu.

Grennell said he is feeling fine and had recovered from most of the flu symptoms late last week but would remain self quarantined.

Test results sent to Mississippi State Department of Health are done in house and have a 24-hour turnaround time, MSDH officials said.

Adams County currently has two confirmed cases of COVID-19.
