NATCHEZ — Services for Doris Jean Curlee Brown, 90, of Natchez, who died Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Oschner Medical Center in New Orleans surrounded by her family, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. Scott Thomas officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Brown was born Nov. 10, 1929, in Jacksonville, Florida, the daughter of Ray Bruce Curlee Sr. and Mary Frances Clark Curlee.

Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Natchez High School and attended the University of Southern Mississippi. She was a former dancing teacher and later retired from Laird Funeral Home and Family Security Life Insurance Company. She was a member of St. Mary Basilica and an active member of the Senior Citizen Water Aerobics Class. Mrs. Brown was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Mrs. Brown had a zest for life and spent her days spreading joy, laughter, and love to everyone in her life, especially those that sat around her kitchen table.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Margaret Turner Cockerham; and her husband of 62 years, J. I. Brown Jr.

Survivors include two daughters, Patty Brown Barlow of Natchez and Mary Frances Coronis and husband, Glen, of Ooltewah, Tennessee; four sons, Joseph I. Brown III and wife, Heshao, of Clinton, Michael T. Brown, Sr. of Vidalia, Donald J. Brown of Natchez and Daniel Bruce Brown of Canton; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, one sister, Patricia Wheat of Mobile, Alabama; and three brothers Bruce Curlee and wife, Kathleen, of Natchez, Kermit Pat Turner of Natchez, and Pete Halloran and wife, Leah, of Cullman, Alabama; and close family friend Frankie Case.

Pallbearers will be Michael T. Brown, Jr., Michael T. Brown III, Parker Brown, Joey Brown, Jake Coronis, and Nick Coronis.
