Delta Charter School blows out Bolton High baseball, 9-1

FERRIDAY — The Delta Charter School Storm used a big fifth inning to win 9-1 over the Bolton High School Bears on Thursday night at Delta Charter School.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Storm scored four runs. Payten Roberts collected his second RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Blake Grayson from third.
With two runners on and one out, Chandler Harrison hit a single to left field and scored Drew Brown from third base for the third run in the inning.
Roberts scored his third run of the game with a single to left field in the bottom of the sixth inning and scored Grayson from third base.
Roberts led the Storm with three RBIs and went one for three at the plate.
On the mound for Delta Charter, Landon Davis pitched three and two-thirds of an inning. Davis struck out eight batters and gave up one hit.
Preston Higgins came into the top of the fourth inning with two outs. He struck out two batters and walked two batters out of the bullpen for the Storm.
Roberts shut the Bears down in the top of the sixth and seventh. Roberts struck out two Bolton High batters and gave up no runs.
For the Bears, Seth Herron went one for three at the plate to lead Bolton in hits.
Delta Charter (3-7) hosts L.W. Higgins High School at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The last time the two teams played against each other was on March 3. Delta Charter School won 13-3 in the last meeting against L.W. Higgins.
Bolton High (2-5) will travel to Abbeville High School for a game at 6 p.m. on March 18.
