NATCHEZ — Services for Dr. Judy Smith, 67, of Roxie, who passed on March 3, 2020, at St. Dominic Hospital Jackson, will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Pilgrim Baptist Church Natchez with Pastor Titus A. White Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
A wake service will be held Friday, March 13, at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel in Natchez from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Dr. Judy was born May 16, 1952, in Stampley, to Willie and Lillie Bee Felton Smith. Dr. Judy was the eldest of eight children.
Dr. Judy was affectionately known as a member of Salem Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, Coordinator of Studies in the Bible, President of the Women Ministry, Coordinator of the Prayer Ministry and administrative assistant. She was a graduate of Franklin High School, graduate of Dillard University, graduate of LSU in Baton Rouge and held a Women’s Ministry Degree, a B. A. in Christian Counseling, a Master’s in Theology, a Doctorate in Christian Education and a Doctorate of Divinity.
Dr. Judy was the assistant dean of the newly formed Franklin County Bible Institute, Corresponding Secretary of the Sunday School Association of Franklin County and a teacher of the Bachelor Students at Kingdom Theological Seminary. Dr. Judy is a recently retired Spanish teacher from Alcorn State University
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Jerry Lee Smith.
She is survived by two sisters, Zelmon R. Dunmore and Velmon Marie Smith-Nichols; four brothers, Eddie C. Smith, Tom A. Smith, James A. Smith and Larry D. Smith; two god children, Jermaine L. Nichols and Vanessa Murphy; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
