NATCHEZ — Services for Willie Abe “Wil” Ellis Jr., 32, who died in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on Sunday, March 8, 2020, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at the Church of Lord Jesus Christ in Natchez. Interment will be at Sunset View Memorial Park under the direction of Forrest Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, March 13, 2020, at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Wil is survived by his wife Amanda Ellis and son Brycen Ellis of Hattiesburg; parents Willie Abe Ellis Sr. and Elise Ellis of Natchez; grandmother Gertie Riley of Roxie; siblings, Erica Ellis of Hattiesburg, Christy (John) Taylor of Hattiesburg, Karen (Gaylon) Ray of Hattiesburg, Kaytra (Jay) Benson of Madison; nephews, Jonathan Dunmore, Jalen Dunmore, Carson Rodgers, and Jace Benson; nieces, Kaitlin Taylor, Kassidy Taylor and Leah Rodgers; and a host of uncles, aunts and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Lahmon Ellis, and grandmother, Mary Ellis, of Fayette; grandfather, James C. Riley of Roxie; uncle, Curtis Ellis of Hyattsville, Maryland.
Wil was born on Aug. 18, 1987, in Natchez to Willie A. Ellis Sr. and Elise Ellis. He graduated from Natchez High School in 2005. He married Amanda on Jan. 23, 2015. The couple welcomed a beautiful baby boy, Brycen Lamar on Feb. 1, 2016. Brycen will remember him to be a Godly man who was kind, hardworking, giving, and a goal-driven father who laid the foundation for him to fear and love God. He set an example by living a life that acknowledged God in all of his ways. This page could never hold the content of Wil’s character and the person that he was.
