NATCHEZ — Scrub-a-dub-dub, puppies and dogs can hop in the tub this Saturday during a unique fundraiser at the Natchez Adams County Humane Society.
Shelter manager Hanna Willis said as temperatures are heating up outside for the spring, this weekend seemed to be a great time to invite dog-owners to have their pets bathed at the Humane Society as a fundraiser for the shelter.
The Dog Wash lasts from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and costs $15 per dog regardless of their size, Willis said.
“We’re inviting the public to bring their dogs in for a bath,” she said. “The more dogs that families bring, the better. We have a bunch of volunteers coming in to help us with this event to promote the Humane Society, which is 100% funded through donations.”
As always, other donations of any kind will also be accepted at the shelter, Willis said.
“Right now, we’re in dire need of puppy and kitten food and bleach,” she said. “We prefer to stick to the Purina brand, but people are welcome to bring whatever they can.”
Willis said while the dogs are getting clean, attendees would be able to see the dogs in the shelter and perhaps pick out a new furry friend to adopt and take home.
“We have a few puppies … really great medium-sized dogs and amazing large dogs that tend to get overlooked,” Willis said. “… We have a lot that just need homes.”
Volunteers and students in need of community service hours are also welcome to come Saturday to help out, Willis said.
