NATCHEZ — On a rainy Monday night, Vidalia High Vikings stopped their two-game losing streak with a 19-14 win over Adams County Christian School.

The Vikings scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning on five straight walks by ACCS’s Tripp Cotten.

The Rebels attempted to mount a comeback in the bottom of the seventh. A Rebels triple by Cody Brown helped cut the Vikings lead to five runs. But it wasn’t enough to win the game for the Rebels.

The big inning for the Vikings came in the top of the sixth inning. Vidalia High hit three doubles and a home run.

The home run was hit by Bret Walsworth to left field. Walsworth scored three RBIs. Walsworth went four for six at the plate and totaled eight bases in the game.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Rebels scored eight runs on five walks, a double by Cotten and a single by Alex Patterson.

After the walks were given up by Vidalia High’s Brandon Bozeman, Jacob Spears came in for the Vikings and struck out two batters in a row.

Spears came into the bottom of the seventh and retired two batters on nine pitches. Spears finished the game with two strikeouts, four walks and gave up one hit on one and two thirds innings pitched.

Peyton Fort started the game for Vidalia. He pitched five innings, gave up two earned runs and struck out six batters.

Vidalia High (2-6) will finish its four-game road trip with a game against LHSAA Class B opponent the Grace Christian Warriors (5-2) at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Adams County (2-2) will host Miss-Lou opponent the Delta Charter School Storm (1-5) at 5 p.m. Wednesday for a double header. The second game starts at 7 p.m. Both games are five innings each.
