Natchez — Services for Mrs. Ethel Mae Brown Proby, 91, of Natchez, who died Feb. 20, 2020, at Merit Health Natchez Hospital, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, February 29, at Greater St. Mark Baptist Church in Natchez, with Rev. Maurice Irving officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Natchez.
A wake service will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, February 28, at the Marshall Funeral Home Chapel in Natchez. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Proby was born Feb. 11, 1929, in Natchez, to Albert Brown and Jenanett Lucas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Anthony Proby; two daughters, Gloria Ellis and Carlis Proby; one grandson, Antonio Green; and one brother, Augusta “BooPee” Berry.
She is survived by one son, Anthony Ray Proby and his wife, Mary; twelve grandchildren, Valenthia Smith, Monica Hammond and husband Donald, Tangela Chambers and husband, Rayford, Cedric Proby and wife, Jerrica, Charles Fuller, Zakwa Morris and husband, Darryl, Kanebra Ellis, Brian Ellis, Regina Simpson, Delanea Young and husband Eldrick, Amelia Seals and Freddie Simpson Jr.; thirty-one great-grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren; two special nephews and nieces; Jessie and Ann Moore and Luther and Della Thomas; two special friends, Rose Simpson and Rosalie Brooks; and a host of other relatives and friends.
