NATCHEZ— Services for Louis Williams Sr., 87, who died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Murray Temple Church of God in Christ, 5 Perrault St., in Natchez. His final hours were spent talking, smiling and laughing with two of his daughters at his side.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Curtis Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.
Mr. Williams was born Feb. 26, 1932, in Rolling Fork, and reared by Miss Eliza B. Moore, affectionately known as “Mama Lisa.”
He received his high school diploma from Natchez Junior College. He served in the U.S. Army as a Private 1stClass E3 where his tour of duty included Korea and Japan.
Following his military service, Louis returned to Natchez where he worked for Diamond International for 17 years. He had a plethora of interests including boxing, gardening, wrestling and watching classic movies.
Louis was a faithful member of Murray Temple Church of God In Christ where he served as a deacon. He lived his life in service, helping others. He will forever be in our hearts.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Rosie Lee Williams; four children, Louis Williams Jr., Linda N. Gibson and husband, Patrick, and Brenda M. Barnes, all of Natchez, and Donna F. Williams of Union City, Georgia; six grandchildren, Williams Patrick Gibson, Alexandria Vaughn Shores, Brittany Nicole Williams, Austin Keith Gibson, Breonna Ja’nae Barnes and Shikinley Rena Mitchell; and his only great-granddaughter, Lauryn Denise Perry.
