NEW ORLEANS — Natchez High traveled to New Orleans and played against Forrest County Agricultural High School in the Court of Dreams: The NBA Experience on Friday afternoon.
Forrest County pulled away with a 49-48 victory over Natchez High.
The game came down to a couple of missed positions by the Bulldogs and the Aggies were able to earn the one-point victory inside the Smoothie King Center.
Despite the loss, Natchez Head Coach David Haywood said it was a great experience for the Bulldogs.
“I think the players played hard against a great team in Forrest County,” Haywood said. “From warm-ups and through the game, the players just enjoyed the experience of being able to play on an NBA court.”
The Bulldogs will play two Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 5A-Region 6 games this week. The first region game is against the Forest Hill High School Patriots on Tuesday. The last time the two teams squared off was on Jan. 17 when Forest Hill defeated Natchez High, 68-57.
After the game against the Patriots on Tuesday, Natchez High (13-9) will play their final Region 6 game against the Wingfield High School Falcons on Jan. 31. The Falcons won 64-40 over the Bulldogs in the two teams’ last meeting on Jan. 10.
“If we win the next two games, then that would put us in first place,” Haywood said. “These two games are very important.”
In the Region 6 standings, the Patriots hold the No. 1 spot with a 4-0 record against Region 6 opponents while the Falcons are the No. 2 spot with a record of 2-1. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are in the No. 3 spot with a 2-2 record.
Tip off between Natchez High and Forest Hill High School is at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Natchez High.
