NATCHEZ — Natchez police officers recovered a truck Thursday they said had been stolen and had switched plates.
Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong said investigators were still searching for a suspect in the case of the stolen vehicle as of Thursday afternoon.
A 2013 Ford Fusion was reported stolen by the owner from Primrose Drive on Saturday, Armstrong said.
The vehicle was found Thursday afternoon parked outside of Cambridge Heights Apartments in the 300 block of Dumas Drive with a Texas tag.
“Officers were out searching for a vehicle of this particular model and spotted it even without its original tag,” Armstrong said. “The vehicle wasn’t occupied.”
The truck wasn’t damaged when found, Armstrong said, adding there were no signs of forced entry.
“We want to encourage civilians to lock their vehicle and remove the keys,” Armstrong said. “We cannot stress that enough. I also want to commend our officers for being diligent and finding this vehicle.”
Armstrong said anyone with information regarding who had been driving the vehicle should contact the Natchez Police Department at 601-445-5565 or Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000 to leave an anonymous tip.
