NATCHEZ — Morgantown Middle School’s 2019-2020 Miss Morgantown and Junior Beta Club president is passionate about helping others, she said.

Kimori Bailey, the daughter of Shemeka Rankin and Terrian Bailey, said she was chosen to wear the crown at Morgantown Middle School last September.

“It shows that you’re a good leader,” Bailey said of being Miss Morgantown. “You have to uphold the title. You also help raise money for various causes and represent the school at events.”

Bailey said as Miss Morgantown, she helped raise money for Finch Elementary School in Centreville, which burned in a Nov. 3 fire.

“I helped sell snacks and other things around the school to donate to their charity,” she said.

Bailey said that helping people is one of her many passions.

Bailey said she was inspired to become a nurse practitioner when she grows up by watching her older cousin at work.

“When I graduate, I want to go to college and become a nurse,” she said. “I like to take care of people. The work that nurses do looks interesting to me.”

Bailey is also the president of the Junior National Beta Club and the head cheerleader at her school.

Bailey said she also enjoys participating in extra-curricular activities, traveling, shopping, fixing hair and spending time with her family.
