NATCHEZ — This morning, the Hotel Vue has a new owner.
Local businessman Jimmy Smith confirmed the sale of the hotel with a news release Sunday.
Smith said he and local businessman Vidal Davis of Riverview Holdings LLC sold the property to Global Strategic Solutions of Metairie, Louisiana.
Smith said in the news release that the sale will be final today.
“Selling the hotel was a hard decision but (we) think the future of the hotel for Natchez will be in good hands,” Smith said.
Smith and Davis bought the hotel five years ago from RBJ Financing, who acquired the property out of bankruptcy in 2012. At the time, the hotel was owned by a group of out-of-state investors who hoped to develop the Grand Soliel casino and hotel. Grand Soliel reworked large portions of the hotel, which had been the Ramada Inn Hilltop for many years.
Smith and Davis continued to rebrand and makeover the hotel and its restaurant and lounge after they bought the property in 2014.
Smith said the hotel will be affiliated with the antebellum house The Briars.
“This should make for a great venue for Natchez events,” Smith said.
Smith said the present management company as well as the current employees will be retained to make for a seamless transition, without interruption to the operation of the hotel and its restaurant and lounge.
