GALLMAN — Adams County Christian School’s varsity boys’ basketball team did not fare as well against MAIS Class 5A Copiah Academy on the road Thursday night as it did at home last Friday night as the Colonels defeated the Class 4A Rebels 64-54.

Even though ACCS had a tough time getting shots to fall at times, the Rebels still had three players score in double figures. Vic Lassiter led the way with 16 points while Josh Credit had 15 points and JD Granger added 12 points.

The setback end a three-game winning streak for the Rebels, who dropped to 3-4 overall.

The ACCS Lady Rebels could not overcome the talent and size of Copiah Academy as the Lady Colonels cruised to a 46-21 victory.

The first quarter was a rough one for the Lady Rebels as they could not get a single shot from the field to fall and their only point came at the free throw line. By the time the quarter was over, the Lady Colonels had a 17-1 advantage.

The second quarter was not much better as Copiah Academy outscored ACCS 11-6 for a 28-7 halftime lead. The Lady Rebels (1-6) did play better defensively in the third quarter, but still trailed 30-12 by quarter’s end.

Bella Givens led the Lady Colonels with 14 points. Drue Boyd made two three-pointers and led the Lady Rebels in scoring with nine points while Halle Peterman contributed with six points.

ACCS returned its home court on Friday afternoon to take on Riverfield Academy for five games starting at 1 p.m. with the seventh-grade boys game, followed by both junior varsity games, and capping off with the two varsity games.
