David “Boo” Smith

NATCHEZ— Services for David “Boo” Smith, 94, of Vidalia, who died at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Living Word Worship Center, 8 Covington Road in Natchez.
Burial will follow at Milford Baptist Church in Natchez under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the church.
Mr. Smith was born in Vidalia, the son of Ed Smith and Pearl Cable Smith.
He was a faithful of Zion Flower Baptist Church where he served on the usher board and sang in the church choir. He was also a member of the Cloverhill Lodge No. 13.
Mr. Smith united in Holy matrimony to Elvia “Helpsie” Rice Smith and to this union seven children were nourished.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elvia; two daughters, Rosie Lee Matchett and Gwen Y. Rice; and four siblings, Damus Smith Sr., Lubertha Smith, Lige Smith and Pearl Brown.
Survivors include Eric Smith and wife, Tracy, Sandra Ellis, Pamela Redmond, Kenneth Rice, Iris Rice-Robinson and husband, Gary; Tammetria Brown and husband, Eric, and Pearl Long; a special grandson, William D. Monor Jr.; and a special niece, Gerry D. Ellis.
