FERRIDAY — Ferriday will honor the Trojans football team with a parade on Dec. 28 after the team won the LHSAA Class 2A state championship game on Dec. 13 against Many High School.
The parade will start at Ferriday High School and end at Big Haney’s Music Hall on North First Street in Ferriday.
Jasmine Schiele-Emery, the secretary of Ferriday High School, said the time of the parade is yet to be determined but said the time will be posted on the Ferriday High School Facebook page.
“I think it’s an awesome idea for the football team to be honored,” Schiele-Emery said. “I’m very proud of the players and coaches, for winning the state championship game. I think it’s an honor.”
In the football season, the Trojans had an overall record of 14-1 and went 7-0 at home on Melz Field.
Ferriday High School Head Football Coach Stanley Smith is excited about the upcoming parade.
“I think it’s huge to recognize the kids and have a parade for them,” Smith said. “I think it’s good to recognize the kids and their accomplishments.”
Schiele-Emery said the public is also invited to have barbecues and have a family day.
“I just hope that everyone comes out and helps celebrate the boys,” Schiele-Emery said. “We would love to have the same continued support so we can become an ‘A’ school. We need the same support as we do athletically.”
The parade is set for Dec. 28 beginning at Ferriday High School.
