The Ferriday High School Trojans are going to the Super Dome to play for the Class 2A Louisiana High School Athletics Association state championship for the first time in 35 years.

Ferriday has emerged the top seed going into the championship game that will be played in New Orleans at 3:30 p.m. Friday. The Trojans have played well this season and we wish them luck in their quest for the title. The Trojans’ run for the title, defeating the defending champions Amite Magnet High Warriors 42-14 on Friday night, was certainly a good news highlight of last week.

Below is a look at some of the other top good news headlines from the past week in the Miss-Lou.

*Middleton School of Dance students performed “T’was the Night Before Christmas” at the City Auditorium and put on a beautiful Christmas show for all in attendance. The students also gained valuable stage experience to exhibit their newly learned dancing skills.

*Connie Parker donated her mother Dorothy Britt Mann’s belongings to the World War II Museum in New Orleans last week. Mann who died in 1998 was one of 1,100 women who were Women Airforce Service Pilots and voluntarily trained as air force pilots during World War II.  The Parkers’ contributions will help other people understand the sacrifices and efforts of World War II for generations to come, and that’s great news for all.

*The Natchez Democrat’s Season of Wishes series is continuing to shine the light on charitable organizations through the holiday season. Last week’s highlighted organizations, included Habitat for Humanity, The Natchez Stewpot, The Junior Auxiliary Angel Tree Program, The Santa Cop Program and the Children’s Christmas Tree Program. Each of those organizations do great work year around and have specific needs at Christmastime. We will continue to highlight charitable organizations through the season, so keep your eyes peeled for one or two you would like to support and make a donation or two.
