NATCHEZ — Adams County Christian Rebels kept the Parklane Academy Pioneers scoreless as the Rebels won 7-0 on Monday.

Juan Botto scored the last goal of the game, which helped the Rebels earn their first home match, win of the season. Rebels Head Coach Jimmy Allgood said it was a fantastic outing for the Rebels.

“There was good passing, trapping and shooting. I believe the skills [passing, trapping and attacking] that our guys did was a show of great things to come. I’m very impressed of what I saw today.”

Botto obtained a hat trick in Monday’s match against the Pioneers. Monday was the first time Botto has scored three goals in a game this season.

“I’m very excited and thankful to the people who gave me the passes,” Botto said. “We just have to keep going.”

Alex Patterson scored the first goal for the Rebels. Nolan Owens was second on the Rebels’ squad and scored two goals and Samuel Merritt scored one goal. Jason Wesberry earned a shutout victory.

“Everybody shared the ball and everybody worked together,” Allgood said. “It was a team effort. I’m very impressed.”

The Rebels avenged a loss to the Pioneers in the Loyd Star tournament. In the Loyd Star tournament, the Pioneers defeated the Rebels in penalty kicks to win the tournament. 

Monday was the first match between the two teams in the MidSouth Association of Independent Schools regular season. ACCS and Parklane Academy will face off two more times in the season, one time at the ACCS Shootout on Saturday and a final time later in the season at Parklane Academy. The Pioneers fall to 3-2. Allgood said Monday’s match victory was sweet and redeeming.

The Rebels (3-3) are on the road against Oak Forest Academy 5 p.m. today at Oak Forest Academy.

“Oak Forest is a real competitive team,” Allgood said. “We will have our hands full.”
