A Thanksgiving Day fire heavily damaged a mobile house at 318 Stephens Road in Concordia Parish.
A crowd of neighbors stood on the edge of the property Thursday afternoon watching several firefighters from the Concordia Parish Fire District No. 2 and from the Vidalia Fire Department battle the blaze as smoke billowed out of the windows and doors.
“No one was home,” said Romona Lambert, who lives three doors down from the house owned by her daughter, Heather Cross and her husband, Kail. “At least no one was hurt. No pets.”
Lambert said the Frosts were on the road in the trucking business when the fire broke out.
“She said, ‘All my memories are gone,’” Lambert said of her daughter’s response when she notified Heather of the fire. “They lived there for 18 years.”
Courtney Lovelace said she saw smoke coming from the house and called it in at 3:34 p.m. Thursday.
“I saw smoke and flames,” Lovelace said.
Firefighters in five fire trucks were still battling the blaze into the evening.
No cause had been determined as the fire is under investigation.
