FERRIDAY— Services for Audrey Rene Jackson Promise, 84, of Ferriday, who died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2019, in LaPorte, Texas, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Harvest Baptist Church in Ferriday with the Rev. James Beverly officiating.  
Burial will follow at St. James Baptist Church Cemetery in Frogmore, Louisiana, under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 5:30 p.m., with a “Celebration of Life” wake service at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mrs. Promise was born Sept. 19, 1935, the daughter of Louis Jackson and Alberta Burney.
She was baptized at a very early age and was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church.  She sang with the joint Mount Sinai-Mount Beulah adult choir for more than 60 years and served on the Mother’s Board.  She attended school in Concordia Parish and Orleans Parish.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Promise Sr.; her parents; one son, Larry D. Promise Sr.; one grandson, Alex D. Promise Jr.; one sister, Dorothy Crossgrove; two special aunts, Stella Turner and Naomi Holmes; and her beloved friend, Laura Sherbia.
Survivors include six sons, Richarter T. Jackson, Alex D. Promise Sr. and wife, Sheila, Ronald C. Promise Sr., John T. Promise Jr., Clinton D. Promise Sr. and wife, Mary, and Darian D. Promise; three daughters, Janice B. Promise, Shawana P. Hunter and Vanessa D. Promise; one uncle, Johnny Turner; stepson, Michael Weatherspoon; goddaughter, Yvonne Martin; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
