Kendra Hunter, 19, was shot in the back at approximately 12:25 a.m. Saturday.

Hunter told Adams County Sheriff’s Office investigators that she was approached by Kishaun Marquez Woods at Walmart, who is the ex-boyfriend of Hunter’s sister, Kiera Harper.

Hunter said she called Harper and told her Woods was being aggressive toward her so she left the store. Woods then reportedly followed Hunter home, where she was shot during another altercation.

Hunter was then treated at Merit Health Natchez and was later transported to a Jackson Hospital where she is recovering.

Woods reportedly went to the sheriff’s office after 10 a.m. Monday where he was interviewed by investigators who declined to place him under arrest pending further investigation.

Adams County Chief Deputy Jerry Brown said investigators are still working the case, but no charges have been issued as of Tuesday.

“It’s still under investigation,” Brown said. “We’ve gathered conflicting stories but are still working this case.”
