NATCHEZ — This Saturday is the last chance to visit the fall Farmer’s Market at 100 Commerce Street this season, organizers said.

Eddie Burkes, director of the Downtown Natchez Farmer’s Markets, said the Saturday Market lasts from 8 a.m. until noon.

Burkes said the highlight of all the Downtown farmer’s markets is that local growers are provided with a venue to sell their fresh produce, some dairy products and baked goods directly to their consumers, Burkes said.

“It’s all about the farmers,” he said, “and giving them a place to sell their produce.”

The Saturday market also makes room for artists and chefs who create handmade arts and crafts, home décor, jam and jellies, baked goods, live music and more, Burkes said.

“We average about 35 vendors each week,” Burkes said.

Seasonal supplies are limited, so the Saturday market would not return until next year, Burkes said.

Next Friday, the weekly Friday pop-up market will return to 300 Broadway Street from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in place of the Saturday market, he said.

Because of space restrictions, only be baked goods, dairy and year-round produce will be available during the pop-up market and no arts and crafts tables, Burkes said.
