NATCHEZ — Local residents are invited to give thanks for the Lord’s blessings at a community-wide Thanksgiving service Sunday afternoon.

The praise and worship service organized by the Natchez Ministerial Alliance will be at 4 p.m. at the Natchez Community Center, on the corner of Franklin and Wall streets.

“We have about four or five different churches working together,” Natchez First Assembly of God pastor Scott Green said.

Green said the Natchez Ministerial Alliance is made up of several area churches from all parts of the community.

“We promote unity among believers in our community, working to cross over denominational and racial barriers.

Green said the worship portion of the service is being organized by Community Chapel Church of God and Crosspoint Church.

“They are combining their talents and will be led by Crosspoint Church pastor Marcus Archer,” Green said.

Music will be provided by the Community Chorale and Bell Choir, directed by First Presbyterian Music Minister Darrell Day.

Zion Chapel AME music director Tony Fields will also provide special music, Green said.

An offering to be given to the Natchez Stewpot will also be collected during the service, Green said.

“Director Amanda Jeansonne will be there to give us an update on the Stewpot,” Green said.

Green said he hopes the community will take the opportunity to come to the Natchez Community Center.

“It will be a celebration of Thanksgiving and praise,” Green said. “To show how thankful we are for the Lord’s blessings, our community and each other.”
