NATCHEZ — The Adams County Christian School Rebels soccer team will be on the road again on Friday to face Copiah Academy.

Today’s home match against Central Hinds Academy has been cancelled due to Central Hinds not having enough players, said Rebels Head Coach Jimmy Allgood.

The Rebels’ first three matches of the Midsouth Association of Independent Schools season have been on the road, including a tournament at Loyd Star High School, on Nov. 9-10 when ACCS attended an eight-team tournament hosted by Loyd Star High School Hornets. The Rebels placed second out of eight teams.

To begin the Loyd Star tournament, ACCS won 3-0 over the host Hornets. In the second round on Nov. 10, ACCS won 2-0 over North Pike and faced Park Lane in the championship.

Both Park Lane and ACCS were scoreless and the match was decided by a penalty kick shootout. In the shootout, Park Lane won 3-2.

Rebels Head Coach Jimmy Allgood said the tournament gave the Rebels players a chance to shine.

“When we get all of the boys and everybody healthy, this should be the start of a great season,” Allgood said.

After placing second at the Loyd Star tournament, ACCS faced Jackson Preparatory School on Nov. 12 and Jackson Academy on Nov. 14.

“We played both Jackson schools with only 11 players,” Allgood said. “I pretty much didn’t have eight of my starters due to them playing football.”

To prepare for the fourth road game of the season on Friday against Copiah Academy, Allgood said the Rebels are trying to get the eight starters who played football acclimated to playing soccer. Those players include Cody Brown, Jason Westberry and Yohan Thompson. Thompson is out due to a football injury and will return in a couple of weeks.

The Rebels will return home at 3 p.m. on Dec. 2 against Park Lane. After the home game on Dec. 2, ACCS will have eight games and a tournament held at ACCS. Allgood said the Rebels are used to playing on their home field.

“The players pretty much know the field and how the ball travels on it,” Allgood said. “That’s a home field advantage, and it’s a great asset to our team.”

Kickoff for Friday’s match is at 4 p.m. at Copiah Academy.
