NATCHEZ— Services for Willie Mae Washington Robinson, 94, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019, in Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Christian Hope Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Maurice Irving officiating.
Burial will follow at Greater St. Mark Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 5:30 p.m., followed by a “Celebration of Life” wake service at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mrs. Washington was born May 9, 1925, in Drew, the daughter of Plez and Daisy Drake Washington.
She was educated in Adams County and was a member of Greater St. Mark Baptist Church where she served on the Mother’s Board and Willing Workers. Willie Mae was a civil rights activist and was a member of the NAACP. She enjoyed cooking, attending church services, community events and caring for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Ida Mae Robertson; one sister, Elodie West; two brothers, Mack Washington and Samuel Washington; and one grandson, Phillip “Pooh” McDaniels.
Survivors include one son, William Robinson Jr.; six daughters, Elodie Hayden and husband, Joseph, Mary Robinson, Barbara Harris, Sandra Robinson, Daisy Robinson and Patricia Robinson; two brothers, Edward Washington and Isaac Washington; one sister, Mildred James; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
