LEANDER, Texas — Memorial services for John Bernard Bhnonn, 75, of Leander, Texas, who died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019, will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Skye Senior Living Center, 11350 Hero Way West, in Leander.   
Burial will be at Austin Memorial Cemetery at a later date under the direction of Beck Funeral Homes and Cremation Services in Austin, Texas.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. prior to the memorial services at Skye Senior Living Center in Leander.
Mr. Bhonn was born Aug. 16, 1944, in Laurel, the son of John Bernard Bhonn and Mary Buckley Rasberry Bhonn.
John spent his childhood in Laurel and Stringer. He graduated from Natchez Adams High School in 1962. He went on to receive his bachelor of science degree from Mississippi College, where he played college football. Upon graduation, John worked as director of activities at the Jackson YMCA. He went on to teach and coach at South Natchez High School. John was married to Elaine Lehmann Long on Dec. 21, 1973. John and Elaine moved to Richardson, Texas, in 1978, when John became a salesman for building products. While there, he was an active member of First Baptist Church of Richardson and enjoyed coaching his son, Justin’s, participation in FFA, where he raised and showed cattle. John and Elaine moved to Lago Vista, Texas, in 1995, where John was an active member of Lakeside Christian Fellowship. He spent his retirement socializing with friends, family, volunteering at the food pantry in Cedar Park, Texas, and cheering on the LSU Tigers football team. He especially enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren. Through the years, he maintained close relationships with friends from high school, college and his work years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Justin Buckley Bhonn; and one grandson, Devin Elijah Bhonn.
John is survived by his wife, Elaine Lehmann Bhonn; his son, Clinton Arvin Long and family, of Sherman, Texas; daughter, Jeana Kathleen Long Bahl and family of Parker, Texas; and granddaughter, Nora Elise Bhonn of Leander.
