Consider those less fortunate during holidays

The holiday season is upon us, and as we go in to the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, let’s not forget about people in need in our community.

People of the Miss-Lou are generous by nature and support many charitable programs and organizations that help feed and shelter people in need. Earlier this week the director of the Natchez Community Stewpot sent out a request for donations of No. 10 canned green vegetables to help the organization continue to feed elderly, handicapped and shut-ins who depend on the organization for food.

The note thanked the community for supporting the organization that has already served more than 85,000 meals this year. That is a lot of meals and is a testament to the community’s generous nature.

We applaud the work of the community Stewpot and the generous contributions from the community.

We encourage people to help out and donate the needed green vegetables by dropping them off at the Stewpot, 69 E. Franklin St., Natchez, Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Also, keep a generous heart throughout the holiday season for the folks who may be in need this year and consider contributing to worthy programs, such as the Stewpot, that might need a little extra help this time of year.
