Good news came in multiples of three and four on the last week of October in the Miss-Lou:

For the fourth year in a row, the Cathedral Boys Cross-Country Track team continued to dominate its competition when it won the Class 4A State Championship in the Midsouth Association of Independent Schools. Three of the Green Wave runners finished in the Top 10 in the Class 4A Division. Senior Ryan Skates won his second consecutive individual title.

At Duncan Park, four golfers hoisted trophies for the 2019 Natchez Senior and Ladies City Golf Championship.

Pete Powell was the overall Senior Men’s City Champion as well as the Grand Masters Champion for the weekend tournament at Duncan Park. Bubba Bruce won the Masters Division, Nate Leonard won the Senior Division and Minnie Torregano won the Ladies Division on a weekend that saw rain and wind.

Excellence in the classroom and on the basketball court comes in threes for one Vidalia family. Vidalia Junior High School triplets Faith, Hope and Joy Gutter made the Concordia Parish School District’s Superintendent’s list, by making straight A’s in the classroom. If that weren’t enough, the daughters of Sanita and Mitchell Gutter, have been dribbling circles around their competitors in the basketball gym. Their determination to excel on the court and in the classroom are an inspiration to us all.

In other good news, Jones Lumber Company keeps growing jobs for the Miss-Lou. After acquiring the former Rives and Reynolds lumber yard north of Natchez, the company has continued to expand its operation in Natchez. The newest $18 million investment promises to create 35 new jobs for the area.
