FERRIDAY — The Ferriday High Trojans defeated Vidalia Vikings 50-6 Friday night in a District 2-2A rivalry match up.

To begin the game, the Trojans kicked a squib kick and recovered it. Trojans Head Coach Stanley Smith said it was a bad kick, but freshman Clavo Thomas Jr. was able to make a big-time play.

It took four seconds for the Trojans to score the first touchdown in the game. Kobe Dillon threw a 37-yard pass to Jyron Milligan for a touchdown.

“Jyron played good all night and played good on both sides of the ball. He’s a playmaker for us. We have to continue to keep him healthy and push him to do the right thing on and off the field,” Smith said about Milligan’s performance in the game.

The Trojans went for two and convert it after their first touchdown.

Dillon ran for a 20-yard touchdown in the second quarter with 8:28 remaining.

At halftime, the score was 18-0 in favor of the Trojans.

After halftime, the Trojans scored their third touchdown of the game. It took Jaquarius Davis 20 seconds to rush for a 51-yard touchdown.

The Vikings scored their first touchdown of the game on a fourth down. Christian Wright threw a 35-yard pass to Sema’j Hayes.

“It was a pretty easy decision because we were inside the forty-yard line. At that point, we had to make something happen. Hayes has great potential coming up. He’s going to be a great one for us and came through for us,” Vikings Head Coach Rob Faircloth said about the fourth down touchdown pass.

Dillon threw a 62-yard pass to Elijah White who ran for a touchdown with 6:52 in the third quarter. Dillon completed 19 out of 23 passes and threw for 241 yards. He rushed for 56 yards in the game.

In the game, the Trojans went six for six on two-point conversations.

“Right now we don’t have a kicker, so that’s what we have to do. We have practiced those two-point conversations every day. We have been executing them and they have paid off,” Smith said about going for two-point conversations in the game.

One of the players who stood out for the Vikings was Devin Green, who rushed for 128 yards for 21 carries.

“I have been seeing it all year long. I’m incredibly proud of him. Every time he touches the ball, he is going to give you every single thing he has,” Faircloth said about Green’s performance in the game.

The Vikings (1-6, 0-3 District 2-2A) are on a five-game losing streak after Friday night’s loss to the Trojans. Vidalia will host Madison High School at 7 p.m. Friday in a District 2-2A game.

The Trojans (6-1, 4-0 District 2-2A) are on a six-game winning streak after Friday night’s win over the Vikings. Ferriday will travel to Mangham Dragons at 7 p.m. next Friday for the District 2 title game. Smith said the Trojans are looking forward to this title game.
