NATCHEZ — Adams County Christian Schools Rebels will honor nine seniors in tonight’s game.

Offensive and Defensive Line Coach Seth Swilley said he has been with this same group of seniors, since they were in ninth grade.

“These seniors have always been a good group of kids. Every time a senior class comes in, you kind of roll the dice and see what type of group they will be,” Swilley said about the senior class this year. “We have had nothing but quiet and steady leadership. We have had really good leadership from our seniors this year.”

To prepare for this upcoming game against a non-district opponent in Centreville Academy Tigers, Swilley said both the offensive line and defensive line has worked on their footwork.

“We’re trying to get our steps right and get more physical. Centreville Academy is a physical team. Being able to step up and go toe-to-toe with that type of team, they’re always pretty physical,” Swilley said about facing a physical Tigers team.

Tonight’s game against the Tigers is the last home game of the regular season. Meanwhile, Oct. 25 will be the last road game of the regular season against Central Hinds Academy.

“Both of these two games are must-win games. With the power points, you can’t afford to lose any games at this point, because it will drop you to a very rugged seeding and put you up against some higher-seeded teams. We did that last year and we came out of it. It’s much easier for you to face a No. 14 seed instead of a No. 2 and 3 seeded teams,” Swilley said about the importance of these two games.

For another week, the Rebels are without their original quarterback of senior Glaston Magee, who has been out four weeks because of a concussion.

But Swilley said senior Dj Stampley as taken the role as quarterback, even though he’s a running back.

“DJ has stepped into that role and has done real well in managing the field and being a leader in the huddle,” Swilley said about Stampley’s performance as quarterback this season.

At practices this week, Rhet McDonald said he as been watching a lot of film. McDonald has noticed the Tigers run the ball and mix in passes once in a while.

With tonight being the last home game of the regular season, nine seniors will be honored before the game. McDonald said he’s going to miss practicing and starting in games for the Rebels.

“It has been an honor. It’s more than I can ever ask for the past three years. It has been amazing,” Magee said about Senior Night.

The Tigers (2-6, 1-1 MAIS District 3-3A) come into this game on a two-game losing streak. The Tigers lost 44-42 to the Cathedral Green Wave last Friday night.

Meanwhile, the Rebels (6-2, 1-1 District 3-5A) come into this game with a two-game winning streak.

The Rebels won 40-23 against St. Aloysius of Vicksburg last Friday night.

“It’s definitely going to be a special one since it’s the last home game of my senior year,” McDonald said about tonight’s game.

The game is set to start at 7 p.m. tonight at Bobby Marks Stadium on the campus of ACCS.
