JACKSON (AP) — A fugitive wanted for statutory rape in Mississippi has been arrested by U.S. Marshals in California.
Justin Vickers, a supervisory inspector for the Marshals in Gulfport, Miss., said 44-year-old Bryan H. Mitchell of Hancock County was arrested last week in Santa Barbara, Calif.
Mitchell was wanted on a Hancock County indictment for two counts of statutory rape and has been charged as a habitual offender.
This is the second time Marshals have tracked Mitchell down.
Vickers said he was caught in 2007 sleeping in his car in Tampa, Fla.
Mitchell eventually posted bond but failed to appear for a court date in December 2008.
