FERRIDAY— Services for Purcell “Shorty” Bethley Jr., 77, of Ferriday, who died at his residence, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Ferriday with the Rev. LeRoy White officiating.  
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Bethley was born in Ferriday, the son of Purcell and Rosie Lee Bethley.
He was employed by Brakenridge Furniture Company in Ferriday for a number of years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Bethley, and his parents.
Survivors include two sons, Purcell Bethley and wife, Sherry, of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Jason Bethley of Terrytown, Louisiana; one daughter, Devarra B. Morrow and husband, Michael, of Harvey, Louisiana; five brothers, Louis Bethley, Freddie Bethley, Marion Bethley and Bennie Bethley, all of Los Angeles, and Larry Bethley of Colorado Springs, Colorado; four sisters, Margie Bethley, Doris Matthews and husband, Rodney, all of Ferriday, Patsy Richardson of Clayton and Doris Brown and husband, Kevin, of Pearland, Texas; four grandchildren, Lavonne Bethley and Marquell Gregory of Chesapeake, Joselyn Morrow and Michael Morrow Jr. of Harvey; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and his co-workers at Brakenridge Furniture Company.
